_{hellion’s eyes were drawn to the ceiling, away from frostbite. she nodded, still refusing to look at her.}

_{“something similar.”}

_{there was something hellion wanted to try- wanted to offer frostbite. she’d heard rumors of it, how life inclined capellans would warm others with their powers. it wasn’t quite as potent as a fire inclined’s powers, but…it should help chase the chill from frostbite’s bones.} 

_{“i wanna try something. feel free to say no,” hellion said, adjusting herself so her forehead was touching frostbite’s. tentatively, she sent out a tendril of her power- just a wisp- offering frostbite that connection, that meeting of souls that accompanied hellion’s healing.}

♛  ❝          right ..     ❞ she mumbled, looking away again as she lent against hellion quietly, nibbling her lower lip with some anxiety welling up in her stomach. it was odd, once again, being this close to her without being aggressive on both their ends or .. with some other end game in their minds. or hers. whichever.

a brow raised when hellion spoke up again, looking up some at her again, about to respond but hellion’s forehead was against her’s. she was too SURPRISED to pull away or complain, swallowing hard. the offer of connection made her tense, getting a little SPOOKED as she tried to push her away just barely. 

❝          no ..    ❞ she whispered, tone of voice almost BEYOND SCARED.

_{“mm…okay,” cassalyn agrees. “but you have to get along with keandra too. he’s…he’s like my brother.”}

_{it’s weird, having people want to be her friend. but this new girl- she didn’t know cassalyn back when she was cassandra. she supposes she should be grateful for that.}

_{“Vivi…Vivi this is…”}

_{Telescopes were considered a rarity on Capella- after all, it was easier to view projections of the stars, or go see the stars yourself. Telescopes were a luxury that few wasted their time with, considering how stormy Capella’s skies were. But this…this was no doubt a Capellan telescope.}

_{She traced the engraved designed absentmindedly, marveling at it. “Vivi, where did you find this?”}

^{♛  ❝          my MOTHERS ; ended up being a family heirloom .. its been sitting in my ship for YEARS && i havent used it. i .. i know you’ve always had an interest in them && i wanted to SURPRISE YOU. i did my best to make a weird thoughted route for maybe a puppy but it seems that my misdirection worked out          ❞ she chuckled, eyes soft as she leaned against the concrete wall that brought them up to the roof.}

♛  ❝          .. anywhere else. i mean, PUTTING UP with me can be exhausting sometimes, i bet ..          ❞ she mumbled, glancing off.

^{“mm,” hellion hummed in agreement.} 

^{what kept hellion up most nights- well, what woke her up- was visions…of her own death. hellion knew she lived a dangerous life- just one screw up and boom, that’d be it. but…hellion had her fair share of bad memories as well.}

^{she didn’t ask about it. she didn’t want to know, didn’t want to get attached.}

                                           ^{despite the fact that she already was.}

^{instead, hellion just rubbed frostbite’s back soothingly, humming a melody she could remember her mother singing to her when she was but a child.}

♛ frostbite shifted just barely to look up at hellion, cold eyes watching her quietly. things between them were so conflicting && cold some of the time. neither of them really knew what to do about it ———- or each other anyway. frostbite hadn’t bothered trying to murder the other in awhile, simply deciding to hang around her quietly. 

it was complicated to say the least. swallowing she closed her eyes, simply listening to the melody hellion hummed, relaxing a little.
